Academic Membership
Eligibility
Academic membership is available to students in high-school or college and post-graduate students, or educators in the United States or Canada. Newspaper personnel and those associated with vendors or suppliers to the industry are prohibited from entering this category of membership, but may join as a corporate member if eligibility is met.
The association serves students and educators through the following resources:
Student organizations – NAA works with the College Newspaper Business and Advertising Managers Inc. to increase awareness of career opportunities on the business side of the industry.
NAA mediaXchange – NAA’s annual conference focuses on the future of the industry, and delivers actionable ideas and networking opportunities for academic and aspiring professionals of all backgrounds. Students and educators receive complimentary registration to mediaXchange, in addition to discounts on hotel and travel arrangements.
NAA.org – Our website is a comprehensive repository of industry trends, data, and research that highlight newspapers’ unique strengths and positioning. The members-only area provides case studies on innovative strategies and success stories.
Webinars and online education – NAA webinars feature in-house and external industry experts who share innovation and success stories for generating revenue and growing audience.
PRESSTIME Update and NAA on Your Side – NAA keeps all its members informed through these two electronic vehicles — one weekly, the other quarterly — containing news, perspectives and insights from the industry and for the industry.
Newspaper CareerBank – This online employment service offers targeted online recruitment; students may post online resumes or respond directly to posted positions.
