In 2007, the NAA Media Innovation Awards were launched to recognize newspaper media companies who were making valuable progress in innovating print and online offerings and strategies. The new awards competition grew from what were formerly known as the ACME and the Digital Edge Awards. Call for entries attracted hundreds of entries from more than 160 newspaper media companies across the country in every size market. Submissions were judged by industry colleagues who reviewed each entry for content, applications and success of generating revenue, audience and client appeal. Congratulations to those members that stood out from their colleagues and made a positive impact for their newspaper – and the industry!
NAA awarded twelve Best in Show winners, as well as Award of Excellence, Award of Merit and Honorable Mention prizes. New this year, the Media Innovation Awards now include the ever-popular digital media categories, the “Edgies.” Finalists have been identified from the Media Innovation Award submissions, and winners will be announced in February at the 2008 Marketing Conference.
Winners and finalists have been notified and will be honored at the 2008 Marketing Conference in Orlando, February 24-27. View the newest award-winning ideas through the NAA Online Ideas Gallery by searching the Industry/Idea Divisions.
The 2009 Media Innovation Awards competition is scheduled to open in early 2008.
