API-NAA Foundation Merger Letter from Caroline H. Little
Dear Colleagues:
This week, the boards of the NAA Foundation and the American Press Institute voted to merge the two organizations.
The new entity will focus on extending the mandates of both organizations to drive education and training for industry professionals. It will be housed at NAA’s current location in Arlington, Va., and will be guided by a new board drawn from both the NAA Foundation Board of Trustees and the API Board of Directors.
Over the next several months, leadership of the new organization will map out the specifics of integrating existing NAA Foundation young-reader and diversity programs into the new organization. Organizational and related details will be addressed through a comprehensive review process, conducted under the direction of the new board.
This merger provides us with a terrific opportunity to bring more horsepower to sharing best practices, training and leadership development throughout the industry. In the coming months, we look forward to updating you on how our new organization will continue to serve the NAA Foundation and API’s related missions of helping newspaper professionals navigate the industry’s ongoing digital transformation. Meanwhile, please feel free to contact me with suggestions. I welcome your input.
Regards,
Caroline Little, President and CEO
