INTERNATIONAL COLOR QUALITY CLUB ANNOUNCES 50 NEW MEMBERS FOR 2008-2010

Arlington, Va. – The Newspaper Association of America and Ifra have announced 50 new members of the International Newspaper Color Quality Club for 2008–2010. The winners were chosen among 198 newspapers from 39 countries that participated in the worldwide newspaper printing quality competition organized jointly by Ifra, NAA and the Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers’ Association at two-year intervals since 1994.

Newspapers entered the competition to benchmark their printing and reproduction quality on an international scale. In addition to submitting sample copies from their daily production, they were required to print two test targets, an editorial image and a digital ad. In a three-staged process, the test targets were measured against a standard colour gamut, the print reproduction quality of the daily newspaper was evaluated and the INCQC test prints were presented to a nine-member international jury for judgement.

The best 50 newspaper titles that have achieved membership in the International Club will be honored at a ceremony during NEXPO 2008 in Washington, D.C.

The North American regional winners will be recognized in two categories, less than 100,000 circulation, and greater than 100,000 circulation. Awards will be presented at NAA’s NEXPO 2008 (held as part of NAA’s Capital Conference).  The Capital Conference will be held April 12-16 at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

The evaluation sheets will be mailed in early April.
