State Affairs

NAA works to address state legislative issues by monitoring state legislative activity, tracking its progress and providing assistance to state and regional press associations. While NAA does not directly lobby at the state level, NAA does provide resources and background materials on state and local issues of importance to the newspaper industry. Legislative efforts on the state level range from attempts to move public notices from newspapers to the Internet, to the introduction of legislation to impose taxes on advertising sales and services.

NAA maintains relationships with the state and regional press associations and aims to provide assistance, often in the form of resources or background materials, that may aide them in their legislative efforts. These press associations are an excellent resource for the latest information on actions at the state and local levels that directly impact the newspaper industry.
