What Is a Podcast?
Basically, a podcast is an audio production, with content from your favorite sources (like NAA.) Podcasts can be short or long, depending on the content. The name comes from the popularity of iPods, which are often used to listen to audio content from the Web.
You can think of a podcast like a radio segment or show. Except, instead of having to turn on your radio at a specific time, your podcasts can be delivered to your computer, ready for you to listen to whenever you want. That's the biggest advantage of podcasts - content you know you are interested in to fit your schedule.
How Do I Listen?
Podcasts are contained within mp3 files - a compressed audio format that allows for large amounts of audio to take up as little memory as possible on one's computer.
All that's needed to subscribe to a Podcast is a computer and an aggregator (software that grabs podcasts for you). The most common aggregator is iTunes.
If you don't have iTunes or other aggregator, you can still visit the NAA Web site to listen. To listen, simply click the audio link for the show you are interested in.
Do I Need an iPod to Listen to a Podcast?
No. While podcasts are easily moved to your iPod to listen, you can use any other mp3 player, or listen on your computer. Once the mp3 has been delivered to your iTunes (or other aggregator), you can listen any number of ways.
