20 Under 40 - 1997PRESSTIME
By Presstime MagazineFirst Published: December 1997
For the fifth year, Presstime presents 20 newspaper executives under 40 years of age who represent the zeal, the dedication, the innovation and the sharp thinking that the industry's professionals bring to the office each day. These 20 subjects were chosen from among the nearly 100 nominations submitted by publishers and other senior newspaper managers from across the country. They represent a cross-section of the industry—by job function, by geography, by newspaper ownership, by circulation size, by race and gender. They all, however, share a tremendous faith in the industry and their newspapers' roles in their own communities. They have bet their careers on our future.
Also in this issue, we mark our fifth anniversary with two special additions to this project: a celebration of heroic performance by the staff of the flood-ravaged Grand Forks (N.D.) Herald (below), and a return to our first group of profile subjects to track their progress and share their perspectives.
As the year draws to a close, join us in acknowledging the talent and skill in newspaper organizations throughout the country. Next year, we want to hear about some of the dynamic people working for you.
