I've been very slightly slacking off on the blogging this week, so I thought today I'd help you slack off, too -- in an entirely online journalism way with links to a few interesting video clips.
Colbert Report: Interview with Blogger Josh Wolf
Steven Colbert of Comedy Central's The Colbert Report interviewed blogger Josh Wolf, who was imprisoned for refusing to turn over video footage of an anarchist rally to government prosecutors. The result, of course, is an interesting (and funny) first amendment debate. Link (from Comedy Central).
Chron.com: The NFL's 45-Second Rule
The Houston Chronicle's John McClain interviewed Houston Texan football players for exactly 45 seconds each to demonstrate the NFL's rule about the allowable length of online video clips. Link (from Lost Remote).
I Got a Crush... on Obama
Warning: This one is a little bit borderline on the work-appropriateness scale. The reason I'm posting it is because it's the latest political voter-generated video viral hit. TechPresident blogger Alan Rosenblatt brought up some interesting points about how videos like this are making politicians lose a little bit of control over their campaigns. That, in turn, will surely affect how newsrooms cover the presidential campaigns. Link (from Revver), but if it's slow (it was this morning), you can also try BarelyPolitical.com.
Prometeus
This video includes a ton of predictions about the future of digital media -- and the demise of traditional television, newspapers and radio in the not-too-distance future. Other predictions: Lawrence Lessig becomes U.S. Secretary of Justice and declares copyrights illegal, and Google buys Microsoft. Scary. Link (from BuzzMachine).
