Update August 15, 2007:
The Media Innovation Awards and Digital Edge Awards are open and accepting entries!
Here’s your first real update about the 2008 Newspaper Association of America Digital Edge Awards.
From NAA’s Federation Services department:
The New NAA Media Innovation Awards
"We have taken the best of both the ACME and Digital Edge Awards and revamped them with all-new features and a single upgraded competition Web site. Now called the NAA Media Innovation Awards (aka NAA MIAs), we’ve compiled award categories that fit both online and print innovations in newspaper media.
"The NAA MIAs have new features, including newly updated online entry software that accepts a broad range of file types for every category and brand new categories and divisions that emphasize growing strategy and innovation across newspaper media in the areas of audience and revenue (Digital Edge categories will be found here and will continue to be branded as such).
"The awards will continue to be judged by newspaper peers on strategy, adaptability, innovation, and impact."
Basically, the Digital Edge awards are now a subset of the new NAA Media Innovation Awards, and we hope this will encourage even more entries into the already-tough competition.
The 2008 NAA Media Innovation Awards are scheduled to open in mid-August and members will be notified via broadcast emails and information in our member newsletters and publications. Entries will be accepted through Oct. 26, at which time our judging teams will select winners, who will be notified in January 2008.
The Media Innovation Digital Edge awards ceremony will be during the Marketing/CONNECTIONS Conference in Orlando, Feb. 24 – 28, 2008.
In the meantime, please start thinking back over the past year about your best projects in advertising, editorial multimedia, reader participation and more.
