This morning, I had the fun experience of sitting down with John C. Havens of BlogTalk Radio. John is interviewing Online News Association conference attendees, including Ken Sands of Congressional Quarterly, Paul Maidment and Dan Bigman of Forbes.com, and Kathy Best of The Seattle Times. And me. The interviews range from about 15 minutes to half an hour. In addition, the Student Newsroom here at the conference is putting together a feature story on the interviews, which I'll link up to later today. (Listen to all the interviews here. Listen to my interview here.)
As I said this morning to John, even when the sessions are amazing -- and they are here -- some of the best conversations are those that happen in the hallways and receptions. I've had intellectually challenging conversations with Steve Yelvington of Morris DigitalWorks and Dave Toplikar of The Las Vegas Sun, I got to catch up with Profs. Rich Gordon and Janice Castro from Medill, and I split a cab with Rob Curley of WPNI. BlogTalk Radio is a way to get in even more of those conversations, and it was a worthwhile experience.
On a separate note, last night a group of bloggers and media professionals tried to hammer out a document with guidelines for using blogs on mainstream media outlets. They didn't finish the ambitious project, but the work in progress is interesting and they're looking for more input and comments (open to ONA members only). If you're not an ONA member, check out the Student Newsroom's coverage of the session.
Later this morning, I'll be live-blogging the keynote address from Michael Oreskes of the International Herald Tribune.
