Awards
The NAA Foundation sponsors two award competitions for newspapers producing youth content.
The first of these, The NAA Foundation's Program Excellence Award is one of the most prestigious awards given to newspapers. Begun in 1997, it is presented each year to those newspapers whose programs engage young people in newspaper production in lasting, meaningful and original ways. It identifies those newspapers that show an exceptional effort in their youth programs.
The second award competition is the Youth Editorial Alliance Content Awards. This program, begun in 1996 by the Youth Editors of America Association, is designed to recognize content written by outstanding young journalists and youth sections. Winners are announced each year at the annual YEA Conference.
The YEA contest is open to sections for children and teens that are produced by newspapers. Entries must be submitted by the youth editor or Newspaper in Education coordinator. Scholastic and college publications are not eligible to participate.
