Have you been involved in an innovative project that has improved quality, increased efficiency or saved money at your newspaper? Would you like to win a $1,000 cash prize, a plaque and recognition in TechNews magazine? Then enter the TechNews Best Practices Awards Program!

The TechNews Best Practices Awards go to teams of employees at NAA-member newspapers who have found creative solutions to production problems. Previous winning projects have included a compression procedure that speeds page printing on deadline, an adjustable angle bar that allows a newspaper to print products of different widths, and specialized trailers that deliver route-specific packages to carriers in the field (see past winners from 2000, 1999, 1998, and 1996). These projects excelled in the three areas we use to judge nominations—creativity, quantitative results, and potential to benefit the newspaper industry.

Describe in detail the nominated practice. Be specific, noting the technology, system or process employed and all of its benefits. Document results in terms such as time or money saved, quality improvement, customer service, waste reduction, staffing requirements or employee safety.
