Conference Changes
The times, they are a-changin, at least for two key NAA conferences.
Beginning in 2002, NAAs Marketing Conference will move to the first
quarter of the year. The following year, the Connections new-media confab
will join it. In subsequent years, other NAA Federation conferenceswith
the exception of the Classified Conferencealso will move to the
first-quarter time frame.
"As NAAs Marketing and Connections conferences continue to
grow, moving them to a January-February time frame solves several challenges,"
explains Reggie Hall, senior vice president of NAAs membership-services
group. "Attendees want NAA to conduct these conferences in one hotel,
if possible. As the conferences expand, hotels large enough to accommodate
them are primarily in Southern locationsvenues much more attractive
in January and February than July."
NAAs 2002 Marketing Conference is slated for Jan. 20-23 at the
San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina. In future years, the conference
will be held in the late-January-to-mid-February time frame.
This year, however, all Federation conferences will join NEXPO®2000
for NAAs Newspapers 2000 megaconference, slated for June 15-20 in
San Francisco. For information, visit www.naa.org/newspapers2000.
Drupa 2000 Gears Up
Drupa 2000, the once-every-five-years megashow,
again will be big. So big that two additional exhibition halls had
to be built and a third borrowed to squeeze everything in.
Seven months before the worlds largest
print-media exhibition, May 18-31 in Düsseldorf, Germany, more
than 1,657 exhibitors from 42 countries already had signed up. All
told, Drupa 2000 expects to fill 2.4 million square feet across
18 exhibition halls. With 157 exhibitors already committed to Drupa
2000, the U.S. ranks third in numbers. Some 60 American suppliers
will display their products in two U.S. pavilions, organized by
Messe Düsseldorf North America.
For information on attending or exhibiting,
contact Messe Düsseldorf North America, 150 North Michigan
Ave., Suite 2920, Chicago, Ill. 60601. Internet, www.drupa.com;
