NewspapersJudd Alvord, vice president of circulation at The Denver Post, was named to the same position at the newly formed Denver Newspaper Agency. Robert S. Cauthorn, formerly director of new technology at The Arizona Daily Star in Tucson, was named vice president of digital newspaper operations at the San Francisco Chronicle. Michael Clurman was promoted from vice president of production to vice president of operations at The Washington Post, with responsibility for production, systems and engineering. Dave Coleman was named production director of The Washington Times. He replaces Chris Ambrosini, now production manager for the Portland (Maine) Press Herald. Frank Dixon, vice president of operations at The Denver Post, was named the Denver Newspaper Agencys senior vice president of operations. Paul J. Dubsky was named business-analysis director of Cox Interactive Media in Atlanta. Terry Kroeger was named vice president of operations and administration at the Omaha World-Herald. He had been in charge of the construction phase of the papers new production facility, The Freedom Center. Rohn Jay Miller was named Knight-Ridder.coms senior vice president for product and technology. Lionel W. Neptune was named The Washington Posts vice president of affiliates, with responsibility for newsprint acquisition, the papers purchasing department and affiliate relations. Michael Parker was named to Atlanta-based Cox Newspapers Inc.s newly created position of vice president of Internet strategy and solutions. Daniel F. Persiani, vice president of technology and information services at The Denver Rocky Mountain News, was named to the same position at the Denver Newspaper Agency. Elizabeth St. John Loker was named vice president of planning for The Washington Post and will oversee strategic development of information resources and technology. Bill Yearous was named vice president and chief information officer of The Seattle Times Co. VendorsDeborah Besemer was named president and chief executive officer of Tribune Co./The Washington Post Co.-backed BrassRing Inc. Max Coebergh, a longtime member of Atex Media Solutions senior management, was named the Bedford, Mass., companys president and CEO. He replaces Karen Weltchek, who becomes CEO of Atex spinoff Omnex Technologies Inc. (see "In Brief," p. 7). George B. Irish, president of Hearst Newspapers and a senior vice president of The Hearst Corp., was named to the board of directors of E Ink Corp. of Cambridge, Mass. Harry Kokolus was named director of aftermarket sales and product development for Goss Graphic Systems of Westmont, Ill. Carol Perruso, formerly president of new media at the Los Angeles Times, was named president of Seattles DailyShopper Network. AssociationsHarshad Matalia was promoted to director of production operations
at NAA. He has been with the Association and its predecessors since 1975.
