CROTEAU NAMED
SENIOR TECH VP
Thomas
Croteau, NAA vice president of newspaper services,
has been promoted to senior vice president of technology.
The announcement was made today during NAAs Newspaper
Operations SuperConference, being held at the Fontainebleau
Hilton in Miami Beach, Jan. 23-28.
In his new role, Croteau will act as an industry spokesperson
for technology and telecommunications issues of interest
to newspaper production. His primary responsibilities
include strategic planning and implementation actions
that will provide the technology for the newspaper industry
to promote cost savings, productivity, efficiency and
modernization. He will direct NAAs Technology Department
in development and implementation of technology, technical
assistance to members, technical training, telecommunications,
symposia, NEXPO®, environmental issues, standards
and codes, and materials testing.
"During Toms tenure at NAA, his work with
members in various technology fields Ð particularly his
expertise in color-quality reproduction Ð has helped our
industry deliver a product that looks better than ever
and is produced with greater efficiency," commented
NAA President and CEO John F. Sturm. "Tom and his
team are well-positioned to help the newspaper industry
best utilize and gain from the technology of the new century.
I am pleased that we have the bench strength at NAA that
makes this promotion to my senior management team possible."
Croteau joined NAA in 1993 as technical training manager,
and was promoted to director, newspaper services in the
fall of 1996. In July 1998, he was promoted to vice president,
newspaper services, where he was responsible for the day-to-day
operations of the technology department and overseeing
the activities of the newspaper services, production materials,
environmental services and media technology divisions.
Prior to joining NAA, Croteau worked for nine years at
USA Today as production coordinator, quality manager and
production director. He also spent two years as a consultant
and trainer with the Blevins Harding Group, Vienna, VA.
He has a bachelors degree in printing production
management from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
