Newspapers

Lynda Hanshaw, former production director and executive advertising-operations director for the Rocky Mountain News in Denver, will direct operational integration for the Denver Newspaper Agency.

Brian Kardell was promoted to vice president of information systems for Lee Enterprises in Davenport, Iowa.

Katie McManus, formerly pre-press manager for The Denver Post, was named the agency’s advertising-operations director.

Michael Oreskes, The New York Times’ Washington bureau chief, was named assistant managing editor and electronic-news director.

Bill Reynolds was named circulation director for the Denver Newspaper Agency. Rich Bradley, The Denver Post’s circulation director, continues in a similar role at DNA. Steve Johannson, formerly state-circulation director for the Rocky Mountain News in Denver, becomes DNA’s integration director, responsible for combining field operations. Bernie Gitt was named the agency’s director of circulation administration; Hugh McGarry will direct single-copy sales and marketing; and April Gauldin, the Post’s circulation-operations director, continues in the same role at DNA.

Joseph M. Russin was named assistant managing editor for multimedia at the Los Angeles Times. He will establish and oversee the paper’s multimedia desk. He previously served as managing editor of the Star-Tribune in Casper, Wyo.

Jay I. Sabin was named vice president of labor relations of The New York Times. He will manage relations with its 15 unions.

Beth Sholar, who served in a number of roles with Thomson Newspapers Inc., was named chief technology officer for Times Publishing Co. in St. Petersburg.

Carol Sholes was named vice president of information technology at The Sun in Baltimore.

David A. Thurm was named The New York Times Co.’s vice president of real-estate development. Formerly vice president of production for the Times and chief operating officer of New York Times Digital, he will oversee development of the company’s new headquarters and other projects.

Mark Stencel was promoted to vice president of global strategy and partnerships for Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive. Keith Tomatore was named vice president of operations.

Steve Yelvington was named manager of Web site development for Morris Communications Corp.’s online services group, Morris Digital Works. He co-founded the Star Tribune’s Internet serv-ice in 1994 and most recently was executive editor of Cox Interactive Media.

Vendors

Yves Rogivue has been selected to succeed Helgi Schmidt-Liermann as MAN Roland’s CEO for North America.

Associations

Bill Aiello was promoted to vice president, operations and newspaper relations for the Newspaper National Network. He was formerly with The Newspaper Network, Publicitas Advertising Services and Gannett Suburban Newspapers in White Plains, N.Y.

Don Brose was named e-services manager for the South Dakota Newspaper Association. He will help member publications develop online services.
