Associations

Sharon Hite, who serves as president and general manager of Scripps Howard Supply Co., Cincinnati, has been elected president of the Newspaper Purchasing Management Association Inc.

Kerry J. Northrup, formerly of Gannett Co. Inc., has been named to the newly created position of technologies editor at IFRA, the international association for newspaper and media technology headquartered in Darmstadt, Germany.


Newspapers

Michael Alston will be the new director of electronic business at the Virginian-Pilot and Ledger-Star, Norfolk, Va. He was director of business development for Landmark Communications Newspapers in Shelbyville, Ky.

Patricia Hart will serve as editor of the new on-line electronic news and information service being developed at The Times Union in Albany, N.Y. She was executive entertainment editor at the paper.

Bruce Koon, formerly associate editor at the San Francisco Examiner, will be managing editor of Mercury Center, run by the San Jose Mercury News.

A. Tilden Leigh Jr. has been named chief information officer at Morris Communications Corp., Augusta, Ga. Leigh had been business-system manager for Kraft General Foods.

Nancy Malitz was appointed assistant managing editor of interactive electronic news at The Detroit News. She had been manager of interactive electronic news.

Linda Sease was appointed director of new business at the Rocky Mountain News, Denver. Sease had served most recently as director of communications for the Houston Rockets basketball team.

Steve Strout was named publishing technologies director at the Ocala (Fla.) Star- Banner. Strout had been information technology director for the paper.

John A. (Jack) Williams will serve as vice president of business development for Gannett Co. Inc.'s Newspaper Division. He was senior vice president of marketing and president of the new-business division of the Seattle Times Co.

Brian Blunden, managing director of Pira International, has been appointed by the European Commission to chair the evaluation of the IMPACT II information industry program.

Donald V. Cims has been named president of nuArc Company Inc., Niles, Ill.

Robert J. Conrads has been named chairman and CEO of Indigo America Inc., based in Woburn, Mass. He had been the president of Indigo America.

Ron Crowder was named sales representative for the Los Angeles staff of Pitman Co., headquartered in Totowa, N.J.

Don H. Davis has been elected president, CEO and director for Rockwell International Corp. of Seal Beach, Calif. Davis was executive vice president and COO with primary responsibility for the corporation's automation, automotive and telecommunications businesses.

Rico Downer has joined Pitman Co., Totowa, N.J., as digital-imaging specialist.

Brad Fanshier has been named graphic-systems support manager at Monotype Systems Inc. of Rolling Meadows, Ill.

Ron Giancoli is now Mid-Atlantic region newspaper manager for Pitman Co.

Jim Guernsey has been appointed district sales manager of the Los Angeles district at Konica Imaging USA Inc., Glen Cove, N.Y.

Thomas P. Hronich has been appointed technical sales representative for the New York/New Jersey area at Western Lithotech, headquartered in St. Louis.

David Jolly has been named the European sales agent for Edgil Associates. He had been in sales at Atex Corp.

Septimus Kwong has been named executive director of the Publishing Solutions Division of System Integrators Inc., Sacramento, Calif. He had been implementation manager for Electronic Data Systems.

Barbara Lordan has been named district sales manager for the Chicago district of Konica Imaging USA Inc.

Robert H. Lowry, formerly with 3M, has been named manager of corporate account development for Midwest Publishers Supply Corp. of Chicago.

Stephen G. McLean has been named corporate vice president of worldwide marketing for Indigo America Inc.

John C. Norris has been named vice president of the Newspaper Division at Roswell, Ga.-based Telecorp Systems Inc.

Scott Rimmer has been appointed by Linotype-Hell Co. as vice president of sales for North America.

Aram T. Salzman, formerly of Seimens A.G., has been hired by CC1 Corp. of Wilmington, Mass., to serve as marketing manager.

Matthew Saviello, formerly of Pitney Bowes' Monarch Marking Systems, has been hired by Sheridan Systems to serve as director of materials. Sheridan is headquartered in Dayton, Ohio.

Eric Schroeder has been named vice president of finance and administration for Rockwell Graphic Systems of Westmont, Ill.

Jesse Stansbury has been named sales manager for the West Coast at Freedom System Integrators Inc. of Wichita, Kan.

Frank D. Steenburgh has been named president of Indigo America Inc. He was senior vice president of operations for the Document Production Systems Division of Xerox.

William J. Streeter has been appointed to the position of president/CEO for Western Lithotech of St. Louis, Mo.

Erika Williams has been named chief operating officer for System Integrators Inc. of Sacramento, Calif.

James Williams joined Systems Integrators Inc. of Sacramento, Calif. as chief financial officer.
