DTP Pagination: The Hellish Problems

Network management is much more complex than proprietary-system management
Existence of multiple vendors makes it difficult to assign responsibility for problems
Basic inside pages (those not requiring intensive design work) take longer to paginate than on proprietary systems
System integration is difficult
DTP was designed for a single-user environment, newspapers are a multiuser environment.
Poor workgroup integration. DTP pages can be changed by only one person at a time
Requires more stringent editorial deadlines to avoid production bottlenecks
