Be Part of History: NEXPO'96

Executives from around the world will gather June 15-19 for NEXPO'96, NAA's 68th annual exposition and conference. The show, which is the world's largest annual display of newspaper-specific equipment, will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The first such conference was held in Harrisburg, Pa., in 1927. That year, 83 executives gathered to review the production techniques of the era.

Through time, except for two years during World War II, the show went on, and more and more managers came to rely on it as a way to keep up with products and procedures that could help their newspapers back home. This year, NAA expects more than 12,000 participants in Las Vegas.

They'll come to visit the more than 300 exhibitors, who will display their latest hardware and software-equipment that will make it possible for newspapers to deliver their publications faster and at reduced cost. This year's conference will also feature seven information-packed workshops, addressing major issues such as making money on the World Wide Web, improving reproduction quality, the pros and cons of web-width reduction, and an examination of the newsprint market.

Speaking of newsprint, Howard Eichler, NAA conference director for NEXPO'96, notes, "It cost less to attend NEXPO than to buy one roll." NAA Chairman Uzal Martz adds that his newspaper, the Pottsville (Pa.) Republican, has "never purchased any newspaper-related equipment that we didn't see on the NEXPO exhibit floor first." In addition to NEXPO'96, the Association's annual Labor Symposium (June 15) and its highly acclaimed Connections'96 conference (June 14-15) will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Admission to either of those conferences includes admission to all NEXPO exhibit halls and workshops. Additional NEXPO'96, Labor Symposium and Connections information is available on NAA's World Wide Web Home Page (http:// www.naa.org/).
