Croteau, Beck Named NAA Directors

NAA Senior Vice President of Technology Eric Wolferman has announced the promotions of Tom Croteau to director of newspaper services and Dave Beck to director of media technology.

Croteau had been pre-press manager in NAA's Technology Department since 1993, responsible for training programs and pre-press research. In his new position, Croteau will supervise NAA's pre-press, press and post-press research, consultation and training activities.

Croteau earned a B.S. degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1981 and began his career as an estimator in the heat-set commercial publication market. He worked nine years for USA Today and Gannett Newspapers as production coordinator, quality manager and production director. His experience also includes two years of consulting and training with the Blevins Harding Group.

Beck has been with NAA's Technology Department for nearly eight years, as a mechanical engineer, senior engineer and most recently as manager of media technology. In his new position, he will continue to be responsible for investigating new-media technologies and other special projects.

Beck received a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the Worcester (Mass.) Polytechnic Institute in 1984, graduating with distinction. He began his career as an engineer with the E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. Inc. Petrochemicals Department in Aiken, S.C., and Newark, Del.

"Tom's outstanding knowledge of newspaper production will continue to be a strong asset to our department in his new position." Wolferman says. "Dave has also contributed greatly to the advancement of our goals, including our efforts to expand relations with international newspaper organizations. We are proud of their accomplishments and of the contributions these professionals have made to NAA."
