Controlling Pesticides

The Environmental Protection Agency currently bans 43 and severely restricts 11 pesticides in this country. The EPA's Office of Prevention, Pesticides and Toxic Substances provided NAA with a complete list and fact sheets for these pesticide chemicals. NAA's Environmental Services Division can review any questions you may have about the pesticides currently in use at your plant. The information NAA requires is the Material Safety and Data Sheet (MSDS) for each pesticide under question and the amount of pesticide used per year.

The full OPP Public Docket on these pesticides also can be obtained from: Sherri Street, chief, Public Response and Program Resources Branch, Office of Pesticide Programs, Mail Code (7506C), USEPA, Washington, D.C. 20460.

In addition to the above data, you can access the "pesticide use map" produced by the United States Geologic Survey. Look up a pesticide in use at you newspaper and verify the area concentration of that pesticide in pounds per cubic mile at your geographic location.
