Y2K, Flat-Panels Top NEXPO'98 SessionsA daylong discussion of the Year 2000 computer problem and a general-session presentation of cutting-edge, flat-panel technologies will anchor NEXPO®'98, to be held June 20-23 in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. Part of NAA's larger Discovery'98 program, NEXPO'98 will help bring an estimated 12,000 newspaper marketing, operations and new-media professionals to Orlando in June. The daylong look at Y2K problems on June 19 includes a morning idea exchange during which newspaper staffers can compare notes, and a more traditional afternoon session featuring a panel of newspaper technologists and international Y2K speaker Peter de Jager. Following in the footsteps of last year's future-oriented presentation by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Lab, NEXPO'98 will also feature a look at portable electronic displays, including ones nearly as thin and flexible as paper. Other sessions will explore full-page pagination, global press technology, quality printing and publishing-system approaches, as well as combined general sessions with NAA's Connections and Marketing conferences. For a complete schedule, call NAA's fax-on-demand service, (703) 716-6291, and request document 740. For an updated exhibitor list, request document 730 or visit http://www.nexpo.com. www.nexpo.comThis year, for the first time ever, NEXPO has its own standalone Web site (http://www.nexpo.com). The year-round site offers up-to-date information on current and future NEXPO shows, exhibitors, hotels, tours and special events, as well as links to Orlando-area information for NEXPO'98. Online registration is also available. NAA's Technology Department created the site in response to statistics indicating that over 70 percent of NEXPO attendees use the Internet regularly.
