Program Plans

NAA’s Technology Department has begun planning the program for the 1999 Newspaper Operations Super Conference in Orlando.

Entering its fourth year, the annual conference, slated for Jan. 10-15, 1999, at the Hilton at Walt Disney World Village, has become the premier educational event for newspaper operations executives and personnel.

The week-long conference will again feature two days of programming in each of four key operational areas: pre-press, health and safety, press and materials, and post-press. New ideas for the upcoming conference include:

  • A series of early-morning "buzz breakfasts" for participants to exchange best practices

  • A Year 2000 roundtable to continue discussion of the challenge

  • Primers on production-manage ment issues

  • A variety of presentations on hot new technologies in all four operational areas.

Key speakers will include NAA Chairman Dick Gottlieb, chief executive officer of Lee Enterprises Inc.; and W. Dean Singleton, chief executive officer of MediaNews Group Inc.
